October still has plenty of nightmares left, but horror’s next wave is already assembling. A witness protection property becomes a demon’s hunting ground, a family Christmas takes a criminal turn, and Pennywise prepares to revisit a particularly dangerous chapter of Derry’s history.
KEVIN BACON GETS COMPANY INSIDE SUMMONER
Witness protection usually means hiding from people. Summoner has something worse waiting at the safe house.
Amazon MGM Studios’ horror film has entered production, with Stephanie Beatriz and Daniel Ings joining Kevin Bacon and previously announced cast member Giorgia Whigham. Their characters remain undisclosed.
Bacon plays Jefferson Haddock, summoned to an isolated witness protection property to confront a demon. The assignment unleashes a threat that reaches beyond the person sent to contain it.
Writer-director Jeremy Slater, whose credits include television’s The Exorcist, handles the supernatural trouble. Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti and Russell Ackerman produce.
The new development is concrete: production is underway and the ensemble has expanded. A theatrical release is planned, but audiences still have to wait for a date.

SCREAMBOX PUTS A KIDNAPPING ON THE CHRISTMAS CALENDAR
Some holiday movies begin with a family falling apart and end with everyone gathered around the tree. Ralph’s Perfekt Christmas takes a considerably less wholesome route toward reconciliation.
Cineverse has acquired North American video-on-demand and streaming rights to the film, with a trailer accompanying the announcement. Tom McLaren plays Ralph, whose Christmas fixation has helped wreck his marriage. His proposed solution involves abducting a former child star from his favorite holiday movie.
That premise places the film between dark comedy and thriller, with horror entering an increasingly disastrous attempt to manufacture happiness. The cast includes Jill Schoelen, Charlie Schlatter and Lynda Day George.
The release plan includes a limited theatrical engagement October 30, followed by digital rental and Screambox on November 3. DVD and Blu-ray editions are expected later in November.
Original acquisition and first-look trailer report: October 16, 1:52 p.m. EDT. Primary reporting: Stewart Clarke, Deadline.

DERRY’S NEXT CHAPTER IS MOVING THROUGH SCRIPTS AND CASTING
Pennywise’s return already had a green light. A new interview supplies a clearer picture of the work happening behind it.
IT: Welcome to Derry showrunner Brad Caleb Kane says the second season’s scripts are roughly halfway written, a production schedule exists, and Andy Muschietti is casting.
Kane also promises a different presentation of Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise within a larger season. His description draws on Depression-era gangster stories: bank robbers, makeshift communities and people struggling through an unforgiving America.
The previously announced 1935 setting and Bradley Gang massacre remain the foundation. Those details are background, rather than new revelations. What this interview adds is a current development update and Kane’s description of the season’s creative direction.
There is still no premiere date in this announcement. For now, the next trip to Derry is taking shape on the page—and behind the casting desk.
Original interview report: October 16, 9:30 p.m. EDT. Primary source: Glenn Garner’s interview with Kane, Deadline.
